BOOKING A HUNT

COMMUNICATION IS THE KEY ELEMENT IN BOOKING ANY HUNT. THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS A STUPID QUESTION. ASK AS MANY QUESTIONS AS YOU WANT AND MAKE SURE THAT THE OUTFITTER OR AGENT KNOWS WHAT YOUR NEEDS AND DESIRES ARE. THAT IS THE REASON WHY I SUGGEST BOOKING WITH US AT “AFRICAN DREAMS”. WE ARE NOT JUST AN OUTFITTER, BUT ALSO AN AGENT THAT TAKES RESPONSIBILITY FOR EVERY CLIENT. IT DOES NOT COST YOU ANYTHING EXTRA THAN BOOKING DIRECTLY WITH AN OUTFITTER. THE ONLY DIFFERENCE IS THAT YOU GET A SERVICE THAT CARES THAT ORGANIZES YOUR WHOLE HUNT WITH NO STRESS ON YOUR SIDE. WE COMMUNICATE WITH THE OUTFITTER AND MAKE SURE THAT WE BOOK YOU WITH SOMEBODY THAT CAN FIT YOUR NEEDS AND THAT IS RELIABLE AND HONEST.

DAILY RATES:

Daily Rates includes: Lodging, food, service of Professional Hunter, Tracker, skinner, camp staff, daily laundry service, dipping and packing fees, transfers between hunting areas, hunting vehicle. Most of the times the airport transfers is included as well as the drinks, but there are some outfitters that will ask extra for airport pick up and drop off , depending on where they are located as well as some outfitters that will ask extra for soft drinks and hard liquor. This is information that will be discussed and given to you in advance before booking your trip.

Daily Rates excludes: Round Trip airfares, gratuities, government taxes, taxidermy, charter flights, shipping of trophies, accommodation prior and after your hunt.

TROPHY FEES:

Trophy fees are the fees payable for the animals you hunt or wound. The trophy fees in most cases, except leopard hunting are payable after the conclusion of the hunt. You only pay for what you hunt or wound. Upon wounding an animal and not finding it, the outfitter needs to show you evidence like blood or stomach fluid for you to make the payment for that specific animal.

BIG GAME:

Elephant/Black Rhino/White Rhino/Buffalo/Lion/Leopard/Crocodile/Hippo

This is the true “African Classic Safaris” and have the highest daily rates which vary from $750-$1800 per day depending on what and where you want to hunt. The hunts usually take place on Government land and most of the time borders a National Park or a Game Reserve. It is usually large, remote areas with limited transportation and some may require a charter flight into the concession area. These hunts are usually between 10-21 days long depending on what you want to hunt. It is advisable to book 1×1 hunts, there are 2×1 hunts available for buffalo, but I would not recommend that. Big game is called “Dangerous game” for a reason and you need a Professional Hunter to concentrate and put all his work into YOUR hunt. It is also expensive and not worth sharing this adventure with another friend, somebody is going to feel neglected.

All of the above can also be booked with private ranch owners that are fenced in.

LEOPARD:

Leopard hunts need to be booked far in advance. Each country just gets a certain quota of leopard and the hunts book as far as three years in advance. It is usually a 14 Day hunt. It is always advisable to book a leopard hunt in combination with a plains game hunt, since you hunt mostly on bait and will have a lot of free time on your hands to hunt other species after you check your baits in the mornings. Some countries still do leopard hunting with dogs. The daily rates on a leopard hunt vary from $650-$1500. Most of the times it is sold as a package deal where you pay a certain amount, usually between $16000-$25000 for the whole hunt and should you not get your trophy, the trophy fee is refunded back to you.

PLAINSGAME

Plains game means “all of your antelope as well as jackal, hyena, small cats, baboons etc.” The minimum days of a plains game hunts are usually 7 days. The daily rates on these hunts are the lowest. They vary from $300-$650 per day and even less when you do a 2×1 hunt. You can get the daily rates as low as $150-$400. Should you decide to do a 2×1 hunt, make sure you book enough days to give both of you a fair chance to have success finding your trophies.

PACKAGE PLAINS GAME HUNTS

These hunts usually take place where the game is over populated and the concession owner needs to do some “game management”. These are great hunts for “first time hunters” to the Dark Continent. You can get hunts as low as $2500 for a 5 day hunt and 3 animals. There are all kinds of packages available on the market.

On Plains game I would suggest to ask your safari operator to tailor make your safari around the trophies you want. You are going to get a much higher success rate this way.

OBSERVERS

Observers can be anybody, family, friends, anybody you want to share your experience with AND they do not have to like hunting. We can keep them busy with lots of other activities, like sightseeing, walks, climbs, you name it, we can organize it. They are also welcome to join you on your hunt and shoot with their cameras. Observer fees usually run between $100-$250 per day.

ANYBODY CAN AFFORD TO GO TO AFRICA. JUST COME AND TALK TO ME. I WILL TAILOR MAKE THE TRIP THAT YOU WANT, THAT YOU CAN AFFORD AND STILL COME BACK WITH A GREAT EXPERIENCE AND MEMORIES OF THE DARK CONTINENT.
